Hands on Da Vinci Resolve Video Editor on the review

by Shaan

By the first look Da Vinci Resolve Video Editor feels very professional. I managed to take out my first video on this application and it worked. Video was quite simple but it did took me three hours to understand the panels.

Very powerful and a freeware. If i had to compare this with the apples and mangoes that would not be fare because it is free. As soon as the application becomes free it almost kills my expectations for a simple fact that its free. We should thank them for the freeware. We can not have all in one free package because people create and people earn and people remain the same. Da Vinci Resolve Video Editor also has a Pro version if you are in real movie making.

Panels are easy to navigate once you know what is what. Auto scaling, cutting, music merging is brilliant. Rendering was easy and has a YouTube preset in it.

I am quite satisfied on the panels and easiness of the control use. Speed from start to end of video processing is quite fast. Da Vinci Resolve Video Editor is by the company Blackmagic Design which is into manufacturing video and movie equipment. They use the same application for their equipment so Da Vinci Resolve is hand crafted as Pro and then some features are removed. The features we don’t have are multi user collaboration, some 3D tools, some of Resolve FX.

I don’t think i am missing on any thing needed. Let’s work on this tool and then take a call on the application shift because i have been scouting video editor for some time now. Have already used Pitivi, Kdenlive and Premiere Pro. Da Vinci Resolve will be the forth one i am going to try. Let me know if you have any tips on Da Vinci Resolve.
