Google Hangouts is one quite famous application that tubers are using on the YouTube for live collaboration streaming. Seriously news about shutting down just send shivers down the spine. After checking out the news we came to know that hang out is not shutting down it is going to split into 2 apps called chat and meet.
Google Hangouts a free communication platform developed by Google which includes messaging, video chat, SMS and VOIP features. Hangout was announced as successor of Google Talk in view of the competition’s Facebook Messenger, iMessage, and WhatsApp. The initial release for Google Hangout was May 15, 2013. In between Google announced apps like Duo and Allo for messaging and video calling and now again we have two new apps coming live.
Hangouts Chat as the name suggest is an application for messaging and is a part of G Suit which can attached with the drive, share sheets and slides is more of a subscription-based chatting and discussion application. Currently the G Suit is being offered at a discount price of 150/- per user per month on a basic edition and will fall back to 270/- per user per month later. Also, yearly commitment is being offered further discount to 1500/- additional taxes.
Hangouts Meet is again a going to be a part of G Suit it will connect you and your team from anywhere via video calling. The maximum no of participants is 25 for the basic edition and gives record option only to enterprise edition.
Understand Hangouts isn’t dying it’s just transitioning
Hangouts is not shutting down it is just transitioning to the new application called Hangouts Chat and Meet for G Suit users only that means it will be a subscription-based application. For free users the apps will be Duo and Allo. It is too soon to comment on the move only once the transition is over, we would have the clear picture with would be in the second half of 2019 or early next year.
